Land Transfer and Construction of the Perimeter Wall

After lengthy negotiations, ownership of the land and the adjacent rice field – totaling 3,250 m² – was officially transferred to the new owner on 3 October 2006. The sales agreement was signed on this date.

Following the official transfer, construction began on a perimeter wall, fence, and entrance gate. The wall was built by our own employees Gimmin, Budiono, and Sariman. On 5 October 2006, a local blacksmith from Genteng was commissioned to create the fence and gate. A Dutch touch was incorporated into the design in the form of the Dutch lion.

On 15 October 2006, a Balinese stone carver was commissioned to engrave the name Villa Bugis in stone. The name Bugis originates from the island of Sulawesi, which is also the birthplace of the villa owner.

Design

In the Netherlands, Spatial Design Bureau Rob Verweijen was engaged to create the villa design. The first series of designs was presented on 14 November 2006. The final drawings were completed on 8 December 2006, resulting in the design shown below.

Start of Villa and Swimming Pool Construction

On 4 June 2007, the construction agreement was signed with contractor Alexander Bayu Hadi from Jember. On 6 June 2007, an agreement was signed with Tropical Pool & Spa from Bali for the construction of the swimming pool and jacuzzi. The project was expected to take six months. Work began immediately with site layout and foundation excavation. Completion was anticipated for mid-November 2007. Foundation trenches were filled with stones. Progress of the Perimeter Wall and Swimming Pool

On 12 July 2007, the perimeter wall, fence, and entrance gate were completed. On 4 July 2007, the dimensions of the swimming pool and jacuzzi were marked out. Construction of the pool was scheduled to begin once the exterior of the villa was completed, expected in September 2007. Construction also started on the pump house, which serves as storage for garden and pool equipment.

Construction of the Guesthouses

Construction of the guesthouses progressed steadily. To provide running water, two wells were drilled. Sufficient water was found at a depth of 10 meters. One well would be used to fill the swimming pool, while the other would supply water to the villa.

Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi

Construction began on 15 September 2007. The swimming pool measures 14 × 6 meters and the jacuzzi 3 × 4 meters.
